That lovely clean-dog smell at collection is hard to resist. But before the cuddles and the “look at you!”, there is a bath to get right. Choosing the shampoo is part of that.

Every coat is a little different
The Groomer’s Edge range has different formulas for different jobs. It is not simply a case of picking the nicest-smelling bottle.
For example, Double K makes Alpha White for white and light coats, and Dynamic Duo combines shampoo and conditioning. Those are examples from the range, rather than a fixed recipe for your dog’s appointment. What suits one coat is not automatically the answer for another.
Want to know which product we used? Ask us for its name. That is much easier than trying to remember whether the bottle was blue, purple or something else entirely.
A little shampoo can go a long way
Professional shampoos are often concentrated, which means they need water added according to the instructions. It can sound odd if you are used to squeezing shampoo straight from a bottle, but dilution is part of using the product properly.
More is not always better. If you use a concentrate at home, check the label for that particular product, keep your mixing container clean and mix what you need. Avoid topping up an old diluted mixture. There is no need to make bath time more complicated than it has to be.
Tell us about the things that worry you
Has your dog reacted to a shampoo before? Are you following a bathing plan from your vet? Tell us when you book and again when you drop off. A photo of the bottle or the vet’s instructions can help.
Please do not feel awkward about asking questions. Knowing what has and has not worked for your dog is useful to us. A nice scent, or a natural-sounding ingredient, does not guarantee that a product will suit them.
